Event Cancellation & Refund Policy

1. Scope and Definitions

This Policy applies to:

• Events (which may be free or paid and do not include prize pools),
• Contests and Quests (which may be free or paid and may, but do not necessarily, include prize pools).

Creator means the user who creates and publishes an event, contest, or quest.

Participant means any user who registers for, enters, or participates in an event, contest, or quest.

Prize Pool means digital assets allocated by a creator for distribution to winners of a contest or quest.

2. Platform Role (Important)

Istina acts solely as a technology platform that enables users to create, publish, and participate in events, contests, and quests.

• Istina is not the organizer, sponsor, or promoter of events.
• Istina does not guarantee refunds, participation, attendance, outcomes, or prizes.
• Except where required by applicable law or expressly stated otherwise, creators are responsible for cancellation and refund decisions.

Nothing in this Policy limits any mandatory consumer rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

3. Events (No Prize Pools)

3.1 Free Events

• Free events may be canceled or modified by the creator at their discretion.
• Istina is not responsible for cancellations or changes.

3.2 Paid Events

• Refund and cancellation conditions for paid events are defined by the creator and must be clearly disclosed in the event listing.

The creator is responsible for:

• setting prices,
• managing refunds and chargebacks,
• complying with applicable tax and consumer-protection laws.

Istina does not guarantee ticket sales or refunds and may deduct applicable platform fees where permitted.

3.3 Postponement or Cancellation

If an event is postponed or canceled:

• Refunds, if any, are determined by the creator’s stated policy and applicable law.
• Istina may assist with communications but does not assume refund liability.

4. Contests and Quests (Free or Paid; With or Without Prize Pools)

4.1 Prize Pools and On-Chain Escrow

For certain contests and quests that include a prize pool, prize funds may be locked and managed through on-chain smart contracts that function as an escrow-like mechanism.

• Prize funds are creator-funded.
• Istina does not have custody of, or access to, prize funds.
• Istina cannot unilaterally withdraw, redirect, or use prize funds.

4.2 Prize Distribution

At the conclusion of a contest or quest, prize distribution is subject to:

• confirmation of results by the creator; and
• review by Istina, acting reasonably and in good faith, that the applicable rules, eligibility criteria, and integrity requirements have been met.

“Istina review” is a procedural verification process and does not constitute sponsorship, funding, custody, or control of prize funds, nor the provision of escrow, payment, or money transmission services.

4.3 Creator Cancellation Requests

If a creator requests cancellation:

• Prize pools may be refunded to the creator only after verification by Istina, where technically possible.
• If a contest or quest has effectively concluded, or if cancellation would unfairly prejudice participants, Istina may approve prize distribution to eligible winner(s), notwithstanding a cancellation request.

4.4 Failure to Confirm Results

If a creator fails to confirm results within a reasonable time, Istina may take reasonable steps to verify results based on available information and proceed in accordance with the applicable rules.

5. Disputes, Reviews, and Pauses

• Istina may request additional information or evidence from creators or participants.
• Prize distribution or refunds may be paused while a dispute or review is conducted.
• Istina is not required to conduct forensic investigations and may rely on reasonable, good-faith assessments.

6. Jurisdictional Restrictions

Certain events, contests, quests, or prize mechanisms may be restricted or prohibited under the laws of certain jurisdictions.

• Istina does not represent that any activity is lawful in all jurisdictions.
• Creators are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws in each country, state, or territory where their activity is promoted or accessible.

7. Enforcement

Istina reserves the right to suspend, modify, or remove any event, contest, quest, or related content at any time if necessary to:

• enforce the Terms of Service or this Policy,
• prevent fraud, abuse, or manipulation,
• comply with legal or regulatory obligations,
• protect participants or the integrity of the Service.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Event Cancellation & Refund Policy from time to time.

Material changes will be communicated through the application or by other reasonable means.
